Heiða Kristin Helgadóttir (born April 20, 1983) is an Icelandic politician. She was the leader of the Bright Future party and the vice-chairperson of the Best Party.

Helgadóttir was born in Washington D.C. and is the second youngest of four children. She grew up in Hlíðar and has a BA in Political Science from the University of Iceland.

Career

Helgadóttir worked in an artificial intelligence laboratory before her friend Gaukur Úlfarsson introduced her to Jón Gnarr and the idea of the Best Party, which would parody political practices in Iceland. They formed the party in late 2009 and after Gnarr became mayor of Reykjavik in 2010, became more serious and Helgadóttir became Chair of the party.

Personal life

Helgadóttir has two children who were born while she was at University.
