Hefei Urban Rail Transit (Chinese: 合肥城市轨道交通) abbreviated Hefei Metro (Chinese: 合肥轨道) is a rapid transit system in Hefei that entered service on 2016-12-26. Line 1 begun construction on 1 June 2012 and was opened on December 26, 2016. Line 1 is a 24.6 km long north-south line with 23 stations. Line 2, which is also under construction is scheduled to open in 2017 and be the first east-west subway in Hefei. It will have a length of 30 km and 24 stations. Thales Saic Transport is providing the line with urban rail traffic management and CBTC systems

History

Line 1 will run from Hefei Railway Station to the newly developed Lake District passing though Hefei South Railway Station. A Line 1's has an investment estimate of 13 billion yuan, with the average cost of 533 million yuan / line km.
