History

Headington Amateurs Football Club was formed in 1949, and was originally called Brittania Football Club, after the local pub near where they trained. The club started in the Oxford Junior leagues until the 1960s when they joined the Oxfordshire Senior Football League. During their time in the Oxfordshire Senior league they went on to win the championship four times.

The club joined the Hellenic Football League Division One in 1988–89, finishing runners-up in their inaugural season and gaining promotion to the Premier Division. The club then reached the First Round of the FA Vase the following season. However, Headington were relegated back to Division One in 1994 for not having floodlights. The club was placed in Division One West upon the reorganisation of the league in 2000. They transferred to Division One East in 2006 for one season, but returned to Division One West. Headington won the league in 2010–11, but were not promoted, due to ground grading. The club transferred to Division On East for the 2012–13 season.

Ground

Headington Amateurs play their games at Barton Recreation Ground, Barton Village Road, Oxford, OX3 9LA.

In the summer of 2011 the ground had a £350,000 revamp done to its clubhouse so that it met the latest Sport England and Football Association standards.
