The Haryana Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Haryana, India.

History

The Haryana Police were formed when the state of Haryana was established after bifurcation from the state of Punjab on 1 November 1966. The organisation is governed by the "Punjab Police rules" which were framed in 1934; however, the State Government passed its police act in 2008. The same police practices being followed by police organisations in North India. At the time when the state of Haryana was established, the organisation had the responsibility for enforcement of the law in 6 districts and had a strength of 12,165 personnel.

FIR (First Immediate Response)- About

FIR (First Immediate Response) application is an SOS/emergency mobile application that helps its user seek immediate help from Police with a single click of a help button. FIR is an innovative SOS app for women, senior citizens and anyone who needs Police help in an emergency situation. The simplicity of its design and interface makes it effortless for the users to access its feature which maximizes the utility of the application. FIR mobile app was launched by the Hon. Chief Minister of Maharastra Shri Devendra Fadnavis on 5th Nov 2015 at Thane. Within few weeks of its launch, F.I.R. app was downloaded by more than one one Lakh users and became most trending application on Android play store. After its success in Thane rural district, it was launched in Karnataka’s Hassan district by the Hon. CM of Karnataka Shri Siddaramaiah in presence of 8 other Hon. cabinet ministers. Following , FIR app has been launched in the strategically important state, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir on 1 April 2016, in the Kathua district. After that F.I.R app was launched in Haryana by the Hon. CM shri Manohar Lal Kattar and Commissioner Hanif qureshi on 17 April 2016

Recently FIR app was launched in Uttarakhand by the Hon. CM Shri. Harish Rawat and DGP M. A Ganapathy

Organisational structure

Haryana Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Haryana. The Haryana Police is headed by Director General of Police (DGP).

State Police Headquarters located in Sector 6, Panchkula. The total headcount of the personnel working in Haryana Police at present is 56,747.
