Harrisburg University of Science & Technology is a four-year private non-profit university in Pennsylvania's capital, Harrisburg. The school was founded in 2001, opened its doors in 2005, and first accredited in 2009. As of September 1, 2016, the University has 500 undergraduate, 3,600 graduate students and 150 full-time faculty and staff.

Academics and student life
Harrisburg University has 7 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs in science and technology-related disciplines. The university follows a trimester system.
The University partners with many local civic organizations for student clubs and activities, such as the Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP). HU students receive free membership in the organization, which involves students in various community programs. The University also partners with many local and regional companies, governmental agencies and organizations, in order to provide real-world training options to its students, through classroom projects and through internships.
The university is located in a single building. Facilities common to academic life, such as fitness facilities and dining options, are leveraged via the attached Strawberry Square, a food court and shopping area located next to the university's building. Students who live in the provided residence apartment-style housing have complete kitchens in each unit.
The university's academic center along with housing are all located in urban downtown Harrisburg. The university is within walking distance of the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania, both which provide numerous cultural and professional development events for students. The university is also a half block from the state capitol of Pennsylvania, and a brief walk to the riverfront.

Criticism

Along with this, Harrisburg University had faced a financial crisis, and problems with retaining accreditation. However, it has successfully emerged from the former issues, experiencing record growths in student enrollments and permanent faculty hires.
