Harris Sarmiento is a Filipino-American professional mixed martial artist who most recently competed in the Featherweight division of ONE FC. A professional competitor since 2002, Sarmiento has also formerly competed for the WEC, Strikeforce, King of the Cage, the World Fighting Alliance, the Palace Fighting Championship, the IFL, and Rumble on the Rock.

Early career

Sarmiento made his professional MMA debut in 2002 and compiled an overall record of 6-7 before being signed by the WEC.

World Extreme Cagefighting

Sarmiento made his WEC debut against future WEC Lightweight Champion, Rob McCullough, on January 16, 2004 at WEC 9. Sarmiento won via split decision.

Independent promotions

Sarmiento returned to the regional circuit, competing in promotions such as King of the Cage, bringing his professional record to 20-12 before being signed by Strikeforce.

Strikeforce

Sarmiento made his Strikeforce debut against future Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Gracie on March 10, 2006. Sarmiento lost via submission due to strikes in the second round.

Sarmiento then fought another future Strikeforce Lightweight Champion in Josh Thomson, at Strikeforce: Revenge on June 6, 2006. Sarmiento was defeated via arm-triangle choke submission in the third round.

World Fighting Alliance

Sarmiento then competed for the World Fighting Alliance at WFA 4 in a rematch against Rob McCullough on July 22, 2006. Sarmiento lost via unanimous decision, his fifth loss in a row.

Independent promotions

Sarmiento returned to the regional circuit again and compiled a record of 31-20 before signing with Pacific Xtreme Combat in Guam.

Pacific Xtreme Combat

Sarmiento compiled a record of 3-2 under the PXC banner before defeating Sung Hwa Han to win the PXC Lightweight Championship. Sarmiento then lost via first-round submission to current ONE FC Featherweight Mark Striegl, in a Featherweight bout, before successfully defending his Lightweight Championship against Isaiah Ordiz at PXC 35. After having one bout outside of the PXC, a loss, Sarmiento signed with the Singapore-based ONE FC.

ONE Fighting Championship

Sarmiento made his promotional debut against Brazilian Herbert Burns at ONE FC 14: War of Nations on March 14, 2014. Sarmiento lost via unanimous decision.
