Capt. Hannington Apudo (born June 28, 1942 in Kericho, Kenya) is the first Kenyan citizen to be a commercial pilot. As well, Apudo was one of the first indigenous military pilots in the Kenya Air Force, having been a member of the first class of indigenous Kenyans to graduate from the KAF's flying school.

Biography

A native of Kano, Kisumu County, Apudo is a graduate of College of West Africa, where he was a star athlete on the sports playing fields. He was a political activist, fighting for the rights of the indigenous Kenyans in aviation before becoming a pilot. He worked as a Commercial Pilot in Nairobi, and trained pilots with Kenya Airways for over a decade.

Hannington Apudo is married to Grace, they have five children, Charles, Jacqueline, Leendah, James and Roy and fourteen grandchildren.
