Baekelandt was named the winner of the first cycle of Topmodel after making it to the finals with Ine Nijs and Valerie Debeerst. Her prize was a €25,000 modeling contract with Dominic Models, a cover for Glam-it magazine, and an advertisement for L'Oreal. She was also an often used model for the German C&A Collection of 2008.
