Formation and Early years

The current HRBLFC team were formed over 12 years ago at U12 level at Chessington & Hook FC. After a number of years there, the team moved to Tooting & Mitcham FC and had success in the many years there. In 2006, after winning the treble at T&M, the team moved to Hampton & Richmond Borough FC to become the U18 side under the former Women’s Team. After a season at U18 level, the team moved into the Women’s side where Dave Marlow continued his role as manager.

Club Officials

Dave Marlow stepped down during the summer of 2014 and the team is now managed by Leah Ambridge. Leah is a coach and manager with a lot of experience behind her. Having played at a very high level herself for QPR, Fulham and Chelsea, Leah has made the team aware of the hard work and determination it takes to make it into the next level of football, and has done a solid job in taking over from Dave Marlow.

Leagues and status

After a number of successful years, the Ladies team have been bouncing around in Step 5 of the Women’s Football pyramid with some promotions and some forced demotions due to a change in league structure. In the 2014/15 season, the team have won their league (Greater London Women’s League Division 2 South) by a massive 12 points (as of mid April 2015) and so will be promoted into League 1. Leah has built a very strong successful side and have applied for promotion into Step 4 of the pyramid and are currently waiting to hear the verdict.

2014-15 Season

The 2014-15 season was challenging for the team. Manager for over 10 years, Dave Marlow stepped down at the end of the 2013-14 season giving the club the challenge to locate a new manager before the start of the season in September. At the end of September 2014, the team appointed manager Leah Ambridge who would take the team on to having a successful season. Leah worked hard over the season improving the dynamics of the side proving her ability to manage this side. At Christmas, the team were sitting 2nd in the Greater London Women’s Football League and remaining in two cups. Winning every single league game since Leah’s appointment saw the team take the league title by March 2015 with league games remaining to be played.
