Hamid Mohammad হামিদ মোহাম্মদ(born 31 July 1956) is a Bangladeshi poet and writer. Hamid Mohammad worked in oldest news weekly Jugobheri from 1976 to 1987 as a Journalist. He organised Shikor, a progressive cultural organization based in Sylhet, in 1983 and led this organisation for a long time. Hamid Mohammad was one of the main founders of Udhichi UK Branch in London in 1988. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2015 (Sree Choitanno Smrite Podok) for his contributions to Bengali Literature.

Early life

Hamid Mohammad was born in Chalar Chor, Chhatak, Sunamgonj, Bangladesh on 31 July 1956. He is also known as Md. Abdul Hamid. He hailed from a progressive Bengali family- his father’s name was Mosaddor Ali and mother’s name was Mahmuda Khatun.

Personal life

Hamid Mohammad married Reba Aktar Chowdhury; together they have one daughter, Rithu Hamid, and one son, Saiqat Hamid.
