Biography

Halldor Mar estaticoselperiodicocomresourcesjpg64141138

Már Halldór Stefánsson was born in Reykjavik (Iceland) he has been a musician since childhood, when he gave his first steps in Iceland. But he wasn't dedicated to the battery, or the piano, as his mother wanted: it was the guitar that he fell in love. He has played in all its forms, but thoroughly study its classical version.

Began his guitar studies with Professor Vidar Örn Erlendsson Conservatory Akureyri. In 1986 he moved to Barcelona to study the improvement Guitar Luthier School of Music with Alex Arnaldur Arnarson Garrobé. He has participated as an actor in international courses with teachers like David Russell, Hopkinson Smith, Manuel Barrueco and Jose Tomas Perez Selles. Later crosses Iceland and Spain as a soloist and part of "Mosaic Barcelona's Guitar Quartet".

In 2004 collaborated on the album "With hands" guitarist and composer Eduard Rodes performing a piece called "The Light" and inspired by the life of Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, a free-thinker executed in 1909, following the riots of the Tragic Week in Barcelona. It does so masterfully and provides a perfect performance. The piece was presented to the public on October 13, 2003, the anniversary of the execution of Ferrer Guardia, in the premises of the Foundation Ferrer i Guardia in Barcelona.

In 2006, the same Eduard Rodes publishes a new album under the name "República Mediterránea" where Halldor Mar returns to work interpreting the theme "In Iskandariyah".

With the passage of time he began to create their own music by presenting concerts in small Irish pubs, where since years ago he participates in the Barcelona nightlife.

He's been doing this work, alternative pop rock and singer-songwriter and has spent years doing it, and it was a time when his creations were shaped in a disc. In 2009 published his first solo album, under the label Simple Daruma Records. The album was recorded in the studio with the help of the producer Marc Molas. And as the name suggests, is a simple disc. Varied, intense, elaborate, yet simple. The album arrives on the market in November of the same year.

Halldor Mar is also a member of the group Wiggum, after its formation in 2009, published in February 2010 her debut album "Sinton Nison loves Nifú NIFA", recorded in the studio with the Maltese Pierce Salvador as the producer. The album has received good reviews from media and music from the magazines Mundo sonoro, Binaural, or Planet Indie.

2014 published the album "The Wind", which versions in English a total of ten songs from the Catalan Nova Cançó movement, songs such as "Little Country" by Lluis Llach and "The Wind" by Raimon.
