Haley Mellin is an American artist born in San Francisco and is based there and in New York City.

Education and exhibitions

She grew up in Bolinas, CA, received a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program. Mellin got a PhD in 2012. She works closely with Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky, two South African British teachers.

She is currently preserving 600,000 acres of wild land. A portion of the land bridges two national parks between South Africa and Namibia. She is an environmental conservationist, both trained in conserving paintings, and involved in natural conservation.

Listed lecture series are at MoMA, the New Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, UC. Berkeley and the Frick. Mellin organized the free arts university BHQFU from 2012 - 2014. She has volunteered with Oakland and Bronx underperforming bilingual schools in teaching art since 2004.

Recent awards are the Rhizome Award from the New Museum (2014), the Haas Research Grant, and the Strauss Grant for a Large Public Service Project.
