Kathmandu to halesi mahadev temple
Haleshi Mahadev is a very popular temple as The Pashupatinath of eastern Nepal. It's situated in the Khotang district, 3,100 ft. – 4,734 ft. above sea level. It is 185 km south west of Mount Everest. It is a venerated site of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage.

Legend

It is believed that inside the temple, the Halesi Cave has been used as a dwelling for 6000 years. Lord Shiva hid there when hiding from the demon Bhasmasur. The location of this cave is between the holy rivers of Dudh Koshi and Sun Kosi. During Shivaratri, Rama Navami and Ganesh Chaturthi fairs and festivities are held in the region.
Mahadev Cave
This cave is 67 feet below the surface of the land, and is both a revered religious place and a favourite tourist destination. Its entrance is shaped as a half moon and faces towards the east. It has a round shape, with a diameter of 193 feet, with a separate cave lying beneath. The floor is 223 feet in circumference.
