About

Haivision was founded in 2004. Haivision’s early technology created high performance video encoders that made it possible to transmit extremely low-latency video over all types of networks.

In 2009, Haivision acquired Video Furnace, allowing the company to expand its product offerings to include campus (LAN) based, secure IPTV and VOD services. Haivision purchased CoolSign in 2010, which provides highly scalable digital signage. The ability to encode and transcode technologies for OTT (over-the-top) media distribution resulted from Haivision's acquisition of Kulabyte Corporation in 2011. Haivision products include encoders, DVB-IP Gateways, Transcoders, IPTV, Digital Signage, Decoders/Players, and Internet Streaming.

Markets

Haivision focuses in the areas of enterprise video, broadcast video workflow applications, sports & entertainment, house of worship, defense/government, education and healthcare.

The London Olympics 2012 Games were streamed live using Haivision Kulabyte. The Masters, MTV Movie Awards, major universities and other organization stream video using Haivision technology. Today more than 20,000 Haivision systems are in use worldwide.

Haivision Video Cloud

Launched in April 2013, the Haivision Video Cloud creates, distributes, and manages media content in the cloud in a single platform. The Haivision Video Cloud uses its Video Content Management System (VCMS) to enable transcoding, media management, and analytics to happen in one place.

Encoders

The Makito X is a powerful, high performance video encoder and is designed to be used within enterprise, education, broadcast, medical, and military applications. The Makito X has 4 internal encoding engines, enabling the Makito X to encode video at up to 4 different bitrates and profiles for Multi Bit Rate (MBR) streaming to optimize video distribution.

Transcoders

The KulaByte Internet encoder/transcoder is used for streaming live events and OTT broadcast channels. The KulaByte is used so that HOOP Streams can broadcast the Connecticut Huskies women's basketball games on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV), allowing games to be available for Video on demand streaming after the event.

IP Video / IPTV

The Furnace IP video system provides a complete infrastructure for delivering secure video to every desktop computer and display within an organization. The Furnace is able to record any source, apply metadata, and deliver live or recorded content, or Video on demand. The simplicity of the Furnace requires minimal support from IT, users just need to click a web link to view media. Moodle and Blackboard Learning System integrate with the Furnace to enable students and instructors to access live and on-demand video content securely.

British Petroleum uses a comprehensive Haivision video over IP system to deliver audio and HD video from multiple sources to multiple displays, while using minimal bandwidth on the facility’s infrastructure.

Digital Signage

Haivision's CoolSign digital signage solution integrates digital signage and IP video for the Enterprise. CoolSign can display secure broadcasts or Internet streams within any region or full screen. Jyske Bank, headquartered in Silkeborg, Denmark, uses Coolsign Digital Signage to drive marketing messages throughout its multiple branches to engage customers on multiple levels.

Decoders / Players

InStream is a performance media player that makes media accessible to the broadest audience on desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and set-top boxes. The InStream provides bi-directional communication between the server and the viewer allowing different devices to synchronize.

Internet Streaming

Haivision's Haivision Video Cloud (formerly HyperStream) is a pay-per-use live video cloud transcoding software as a service (SaaS) that enables simplified, adaptive bitrate delivery of source video content to all connected devices over the public Internet, requiring minimal uplink bandwidth from location. Haivision's HyperStream Live Cloud Transcoder was voted Best Streaming Innovation of 2013 by Streaming Media Magazine's European Readers' Choice Awards.
