Archaeology
Near the city of Hadishahr, there's an ancient site of Kul Tapeh (Kul Tepe). It dates back to the later Chalcolithic period (second half of the fourth millennium BC). Occupation continues into the late Bronze Age. Pottery sherds have been recovered from the Late Chalcolithic, Bronze Age and Urartian periods.
The early site belongs to the Early Trans-Caucasian or Kura-Araxes culture, which spread through the Caucasus and the Urmia Basin.
