Star Wars: The Force Unleashed's Haden Blackman accepts 2009 WGA Videogame Award
Early life
As a child, Blackman would read comic books during long road trips, which created his love for fantastical creatures.
Career
He wrote a book called “The Field Guide to North American Monsters: Everything You Need to Know About Encountering Over 100 Terrifying Creatures in the Wild. He also wrote another non-fiction book called The Field Guide to North American Hauntings: Everything You Need to Know About Encountering Over 100 Ghosts, Phantoms, and Spectral Entities.
While working at LucasArts he wrote several Star Wars comics, including Jango Fett: Open Seasons and Star Wars: Starfighter.
He served as a producer on the MMORPG Star Wars: Galaxies He was also the project lead on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a role which he describes as "a hybrid between creative director and executive producer."
On 29 July 2010 he resigned from his position at LucasArts after thirteen years. His last project at LucasArts was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, which he wrote He also wrote the game's comic book adaptation. His last LucasArts interview was conducted on July 30, 2010, in which he described how he had difficulties getting the game finished on time.
After leaving LucasArts, he wrote Batwoman for DC Comics but left the series due to issues with creative control, such as not being allowed to have the characters Kate Kane and Maggie Sawyer marry. His run on the series lasted for 24 issues and four story arcs.
On 30 December 2013 it was announced that he would write Elektra for Marvel Comics, which marked his debut writing for them.
It was announced on February 26, 2015 that he would write Master of Kung Fu for Marvel.
On Dec 04, 2014 it was announced that he had created a new video game studio called Hangar 13 Games. He was quoted as saying "I wanted to build the kind of games that I enjoy playing...From my perspective, 2K always puts the game first." The studio was confirmed to be working on an unspecified game. The game was later confirmed as Mafia III, a sequel of Mafia II which he will be directing with his new studio Hangar 13, replacing 2K Czech as developer of the Mafia series.
