HOOQ Named Best Mobile App 2016 at GLOMO

HOOQ was named Best Mobile App in the Media, Film, TV or Video category at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards 2016 in Barcelona.

The GLOMO Awards highlights the greatest achievements and innovations across the mobile industry and include more than 40 awards over eight categories. The awards showcase the very best and most compelling apps in the field of multimedia; those that are primarily innovative but also driving eyeballs and audiences from the fixed screen to the mobile screen. The other nominees for the category included; Fjord & Vocento S.A. for ABC mobile web; Magisto for Magisto Video Editor & Mak; Netgem for EETV; and PTCL for PTCL Smart TV App.

Distribution Partnerships

HOOQ launched its inaugural service in the Philippines, before its expansion to Thailand, India and now Indonesia, with a population footprint of over 1.6 billion people.

Pricing and subscriptions

HOOQ is available for a monthly as well as a weekly subscription. HOOQ has plans in bite-size with its weekly pricing from as low as USD1.40. This was the first time such a price plan was introduced in the relative young video-on-demand space considering the amount of Hollywood content available.

Original Content Production

HOOQ signed a landmark co-production deal with the Philippines’ number one mobile brand Globe Telecom and independent studio Reality Entertainment to produce an original mini-series based on the multi-award winning movie On the Job, or OTJ which revolves around a hard-hitting topic in Philippine society.

HOOQ will be releasing the six-episode series in the Philippines first, followed by other markets such as Thailand, India and Indonesia.
