HMS Oakham Castle was a Royal Navy corvette of the castle class. Built as a convoy escort during the Second World War, it later became a weather ship before being scrapped in 1977.

Construction

The ship was built by A & J Inglis Limited of Glasgow. It was laid down on 30 November 1943, launched on 20 July 1944, and commissioned on 10 December 1944.

Career

The Oakham Castle was one of a large number of corvettes built to guard Allied convoys during the Second World War. On 16 May 1958 the ship was renamed Weather Reporter by Lord Hurcomb. It was scrapped in 1977.
