György Aczél (born Henrik Appel; 31 August, Budapest, 1917 – 6 December 1991, Vienna) was a Hungarian communist politician. He became a member of the Hungarian Communist Party in 1935, and was a founding member of the Political Committee (Politikai Bizottság) of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party in 1956. He was a deputy minister from 1958 to 1967, and then minister of culture until 1971. In most of the period 1956–1988 he directed the cultural life of Kádár's Hungary.
