"Gypsy" in Jazz is a jazz album released by Teddy Wilson and His Trio in 1959 on Columbia CL 1352 (mono) and CS 8160 (Stereo). The album is from a once-common tradition of releasing a jazz version of hit Broadway shows, whose audience was not the hard-core jazz fan, but the casual music listener willing to broaden their horizons within a familiar context. The Australian version was released in 1963 in time for the premier of Gypsy in Melbourne. Scott Yanow notes that the album departs from Wilson's usual playlist to interesting effect, but laments the LP is not readily available.
