Gustav Schönleber (born December 3, 1851 in Bietigheim, died February 1, 1917 in Karlsruhe) was a German landscape painter.

Life
He studied first mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Stuttgart and then art at the private art school of Adolf Heinrich Lier in Munich. Gustav Schönleber taught from 1880 to 1917 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, among his students were Friedrich Kallmorgen, Raoul Frank, Wilhelm Haseman , Gustav Kampmann , Paul Müller-Kaempff , Gerhard Bakenhus , August Groh , Adolf Luntz , Eduard Schloemann , Wilhelm Ritter , Max Wilhelm Roman , Alfred Helberger Max Frey and Georg Burmester.
He was awarded the Pour le Mérite for Sciences and Arts in 1911.
Works
His best-known works include: "Gasse in Genua" ("Lane in Genoa"; 1872), "Stadtgraben in Esslingen" ("Moat in Esslingen"; 1879), "Mondnacht am Neckar" ("Moonlit Night on the Neckar"; 1883).
