Gurudwara Baba Gurditta

Gurudwara Baba Gurditta Ji is a Sikh temple in the village of Chandpur Rurki of Nawanshahr Distt. The gurudwara is situated at the entrance of the village and about 1.5 km from Garhshankar-Anandpur Sahib link highway. It was built in memory of Baba Gurditta and Baba Kesra Singh Ji.

Famous visitors

Gurudwara Baba Gurditta Ji is a historical and holy place for Sikhism. Baba Gurditta Ji visited Chandpur Rurki with two associates. They stayed one night along with their horse. This Gurudwara has two Samadhis for two associates, held in main Gurudwara Sahib Ji. Herein Baba Ji traveled on their horse along with two associates, and took rest here; also tied their horse with chain, this chain is still visible in Gurudwara Sahib.

Famous holy phrase

One special phrase has been famous for this Gurudwara and is a blessing to visitors. This phrase is "Dhan-Dhan Baba Gurditta ji, Deen Dunia Da Tika Ji, Jo Var Mangya, So Var Dita Ji".

All visitors and especially citizens Chandpur Rurki, their relatives and loved ones have highly strong and full trust in this Gurudwara. Each and every event/function/ceremony has been always started with remembrances to Baba Gurditta Ji. Otherwise, the residents face hiccups in their concurrent and future activities.

Events and celebrations

No event or new step can be successful without remembrance of Baba Gurditta Ji. Plenty of historical events have been associated with Gurudwara Sahib, wherein local people have strong belief and faith. Everyone could fulfill his wishes either in Baba Gurudwara at Kiratpur Sahib or in Baba Gurudwara at Chandpur Rurki.

Two major events are associated with this Gurudwara. Both are being celebrated every year.

Nishan Sahib

Nishan Sahib has been celebrated on 'Sankranti' of August. Here a huge celebration has been made and new Nishan Sahib is made. This celebration is highly famous and all area people visit this place on this holy day. This event remains for at least two to three days.

Bhog from Akhand Path Ji has been celebrated on Sankranti day. All residents of this village put their best efforts in form of Sewa, and hence lovely and holy event has been celebrated. Nishan Sahib ceremony took place after Bhog ceremony herein. After Nishan Sahib, a holy kirtan has been made and all sangat follows and sing the holy shabads.

Birthday of Baba Gurditta Ji

The second celebration is for the birthday of Baba Gurditta Ji. This function is celebrated with full pace on 24 November. During the celebration the Bhog ceremony is made, on-completion holy dish 'Karah Parshad' is served among all attendees inside Gurudwara Hall as well as among outside Sewadars. Subsequently Kirtan the holy rag has been organized, the fellows make full enjoyment of holy songs, shabads and give their contributions, too.

After noon, standard holy food, Guru's ‘Langar,’ is ready to serve. This Guru's ‘Langar’ is distributed among the people. An announcement is made to all villagers and visitors to take the holy food. An event one day before is organized and executed: a huge 'Nagar Kirtan' in the form of rally and it makes a round of nearby villages and end-up their journey at Gurudwara Sahib Ji.
