Grenoble metropolitan area (French: aire urbaine) as defined by INSEE is a residential area near the city of Grenoble.

It has 664,832 inhabitants and an area that covers a modest strip of territory from the city of Gresse-en-Vercors to Le Touvet and Voiron, including cities like Lans-en-Vercors and Chamrousse.

With 197 communes, 53 of the urban area are pôle urbain. In 2008, its 664,832 residents make it the 10th urban area of France.
