Green Oasis School (Chinese: 城市绿洲学校), commonly abbreviated as GOS, is a privately owned primary and secondary school, located in the Tianmian area of Futian, Shenzhen City. The school has approximately 680 students. While around 50% of the students are from mainland China there are 40 different nationalities represented in the school cohort. The school prides itself on offering a British Education in the Shenzhen where the Chinese language is taught alongside the National Curriculum for England. The classes are set for native and second language speakers to enable all students to have the correct level of instruction.

History
The school was founded in 2001 and was originally a Chinese school. The name Green Oasis School was adopted in 2006. In 2008 the School became a bilingual school with Chinese and International Sections. Today Green Oasis School is registered as an Experimental School with the local authorities and follows an enhanced National Curriculum for England from Year 1-9 and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations through Cambridge International and Edexcel Examination Boards in Years 10-11.
Students and the House System
There are approximately 650 students enrolled in Primary and Secondary school. Students mainly from China, South Korea, India, although 50% of the students are from China.
The students are placed randomly in either of the four houses. The house system is used for school competitions.
The houses, and their associated colours, are as follows:
House points are awarded to students who do outstanding work, be a positive role model, chosen as the student of the month, and so on, through the School Information Management System. The house points are counted at the end of school year.
Key Stage 3 Curriculum
The Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed for Years 7 to 9. All subjects (Art, Chinese, English, History, ICT, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, PSHE (Physical, Social, Health Education), Geography, Science) are compulsory.
For subjects Chinese, History, Mathematics, Physical Education, Geography and Science, students are put in to academically levelled sets.
Students have the following hours for each subject every week:
From 2016, academically levelled sets were removed for English. This is to give all the students "the opportunity to be challenged and succeed to their fullest."
IGCSE
In Years 10 and 11 all students follow a course leading to IGCSE examinations (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) in their chosen subjects. Some subjects are compulsory, but there is a choice to suit the aptitude and interest of students. All students are required to study the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Chinese. Students must choose one subject each from the Option Block A, B, and C. Additionally, students must select 2 science options (out of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). IGCSE Physical Education is offered as an additional option. The English Literature option is only offered to the 1st Language Students only.
Starting from 2016, the school has changed the Year 10/11 English course from IGCSE course to GCSE course, as "many top universities in the UK are no longer accepting IGCSE English Language."
Student Council
The student council is the student government of GOS. It consists of two students (the Class Representative and the Deputy Class Representative) from each form class, and (Deputy) Head Boy/Girl. All of the Class Representatives are elected by their classmates, and the Deputy Class Representatives are chosen by the Class Representatives. The Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, and Deputy Head Girl are chosen by direct voting of the secondary students, since the beginning of the Student Council.
