According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.4 square miles (91.7 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 685 people, 229 households, and 183 families residing in the township. The population density was 19.4 people per square mile (7.5/km²). There were 233 housing units at an average density of 6.6/sq mi (2.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.83% White, 0.15% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.44% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.29% of the population.
There were 229 households out of which 37.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.0% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.7% were non-families. 14.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average family size was 3.29.
In the township the population was spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
