The Orange and Black
Grand Junction High School's student-run newspaper is the Orange and Black, a monthly color tabloid published 7–9 times a year. The paper is consistently regarded as one of the best student-run high-school newspapers in the nation, having won several awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the Colorado High School Press Association. In November 2007 it was awarded a Pacemaker by the National Scholastic Press Association.
Choir
Grand Junction High School's choir department was the recipient of a composition by Eric Barnum, entitled "Wrapped". The piece premiered at the Colorado West Music Festival in April 2012.
In February 2012, the men's choir made national news for the choice of an Islamic piece entitled "Zikr".
The program offers seven choral groups, including two show choirs. Approximately four concerts are held each year, with additional concerts during the holiday season for the "Holiday Extravaganza".
