Fictional character biography

Gorilla Boss Scott Kowalchuk Fills His Sketchbook With 39Doctor Who39 Batman

George "The Boss" Dyke is an Irish-American gangster who was executed in a gas chamber at Gotham City Prison on a rainy evening. However, Dyke's brain is removed from his body; via a lobotomy by his henchman under his orders. His brain ends up transplanted into the body of a towering gorilla by a disgraced surgeon named Doc Willard. Dyke then uses a pad and paper to write to Doc Willard that when he and his men have secured the funds that they need, he wants him to transplant his brain into Batman's body and then plant Batman's brain into the gorilla's body. Gorilla Boss then begins his crime spree where his plan is to get the police to accidentally kill Batman. Batman is able to escape from Gorilla Boss' grasp as he climbs to the top of a building until he falls and is knocked unconscious. Batman eventually discovers the truth about Gorilla Boss.

Television

  • Gorilla Boss appears in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "Gorillas in our Midst!" voiced by Diedrich Bader. This incarnation of him is capable of human speech, wears the suit of a 1940s style gangster with a cocktail stick in the corner of his mouth, and a straight clump of grey hair which separates the black hair he already has. He alongside Gorilla Grodd and Monsieur Mallah team up as G.A.S.P. (short for Gorillas and Apes Seizing Power) to replace Gotham City's population with gorillas. Gorilla Boss is defeated by B'wana Beast and Vixen (whom he taunts mercilessly because she is not as strong as he).
  • Miscellaneous

  • Gorilla Boss appears in The Batman Adventures (a spin-off comic book series of Batman: The Animated Series). He was part of Black Mask's organization alongside The Phantasm, Bronze Tiger, Sportsmaster, and Black Spider before being defeated by Batman.
