The school was founded in 1999 and named after the Bible passage of "The Good Samaritan".
The school caters for male and female students from year 7 to 12. The size of the student body is approximately 1500, with 220 students in each grade from year 7 to 10 and 100 from year 11 to 12.
Good Samaritan students are placed into Pastoral Houses upon enrollment, each representing a significant religious figure:
The school community gathers for events such as yearly retreats, years 7 and 9 camps, swimming carnivals, athletics carnivals, Good Samaritan Day, MISA sport, cross country and many other sporting, community and school or fund-raising events. The House that accumulates the most points at the end of the year win the House Cup.

Facilities
Good Samaritan Catholic College has been building onto its facilities to create schooling for students more accommodating for their needs.
