Pedda Gollapalem is a village in Nidamarru hamlet, Kruthivennu mandal, located in Krishna district on the sea coast of Bay of Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, India.

History

The village was formed in 1905 and is close to the town of Bhimavaram. It is believed that two brothers, Chinna Golladu and Pedda Golladu, had governed this village. There is a bungalow constructed during the British rule which is now called a choutry governed by the Village Panchayat.

The village had no communication links with other villages until 1995 when paved roads were constructed. The villagers' main source of income is the sale of "Kallu", a drink derived from palm trees.

In 1988, Jane McBride came to the village from the US and founded Village Children's Home & School.

Geography

Pedagollapalem is located on the southeast coast of India and in the east coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Transport

The village is connected to nearby towns like Machilipatnam, Bantumilli and Bhimavaram city by road. The National Highway 214A from Kattipudi to Ongole, passes through near by town Pallepalam.

Nearest railway station is Machilipatnam and Bhimavaram Town under South Central Railway zone of Indian railways, under the jurisdiction ofVijayawada railway division. The nearest domestic airport is Vijayawada Airport.

Best Tourist Attraction

The village has a clean beach, which is adjacent to the sea (500 meters from the village). It is a tourist attraction place.It is a place developing for tourists. The new sea port location of Machilipatnam was first announced by the Govt of Andhra Pradesh at Gogileru, a channel flowing into the sea at Pedagollapalem village.
