Early years

Bidmead was born at St Margarets Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney. He started playing the guitar at age nine and during his high school years performed in bands (Young Blood, The Fashions, Illusion, Frozen Moments & The Accessories) on weekends with his brother Paul, a drummer and vocalist.
Lemonjuice
In 1988, Bidmead moved to Brisbane, Queensland where he met songwriter Steve Glover and formed the band Lemonjuice, which released the album "Squeezed" in 1996 and "Twentieth Century Decadence" in 1997. Among the hit songs that Lemonjuice released in Asia were Walk on the Wire, You Know I Know, One And One Is Three and Colour Combination.
Solo career
Bidmead continued as a solo artist and in 1998 signed a recording and publishing contract with JWM and Roughcut Music's John Woodruff, manager of Savage Garden. Bidmead moved back to Sydney and later that year, his debut album "Seven Seconds" was produced by Charles Fisher and mixed in Los Angeles by Chris Lord-Alge.
Bidmead's first single, "Find Love" was released by Warner Music in Australia in 1999, with music video directed by New York-based filmmaker Adolfo Doring, renowned for his video for the Savage Garden hit "Truly Madly Deeply".
In 2000, Bidmead released a second single "A World Away" through Roadshow/Warner Music.
The album "Seven Seconds" was released on iTunes in 2006, re-titled "A World Away".
