Gilan-e Gharb (Kurdish:گیەڵان) (Persian: گيلانغرب‎‎; also Romanized as Gīlān-e Gharb; also known as Gīlān) is the capital city of Gilan-e Gharb County, Kermanshah Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population of City was 41971 and population of County was 60671.

Demographics

Gilan-e Gharb is the second resistant city after Khoram Shahr, which is the first resistant city during Iran-Iraq war( 1980-1988). Gilan-e Gharb People are known for their hospitality especially whe Iraquian Kurds fled to their city after Saddam Hossein ordered the execution for Kurds and slaughtered most of them. The city is populated by Kalhor Kurds and are Shia Muslim. It is considered by many to be the literary center of the Kurdi-Xwarin or Southern Kurdish dialect. It has fostered many artists, poets, actors, and intellectuals.

Climate

Gilan-e Gharb has the typical continentally-influenced Mediterranean climate of western Iran. However in recent years they have had dust storms which contaminated whether with dust, people suffer from expiration diseases and asthma.

Women

Historical Background

There is a few places to visit which have historical background; Sarabe Gilane Gharb, Golin, Historical city in Sarab, Miandar, And also there is a historic hill almost in the center of the city which entering to that teritory is forbidden for people, since it is said that there is a big golden horse berried under it, it is a myth for people from very past but Government have not excavate it yet.

Culture

People In Gilan-e-Gharb are very strict and competitive in their educational life. Although they are Kurds, but their children do not have a system to learn how to write in Kurdish, they only learn how to speak. That is an unfortunate that because of cultural prestige in Iran, not only in Gilan-e Gharb but also in other cities around Iran; parents speak with their children only in Farsi. There will be no wander in ten years from now on their all local languages will be gone. All people are recognized by their tribe that belong too. The RoTavand Eel, are people who mostly their inheritance goes back to their ancestors in Iraq. They are white, blond people. Most of their individuals are studing in abroad. The majorities are Kalhor Eel (Kalhor Tribe). There is more branches for other tribes such as; Eyvani Eel ( Which are known for their justice fighter Seikhan). O'lmamey Eel which their inheritance goes back to Russian soldiers who came to Iran during World War II. They have mostly white skin, blue eyes, and are blond. Siah-Siah Eel, are people who have brunet skins with dark black hairs, mostly are tall. Alirezavandi and Zarangosh are another Tayefeh.

Economy

The economy of Gilan-e Gharb is largely based on agriculture. The is not much job for people, therefore individuals started to migrate to capital city Tehran, in hope of fining a job.
