Gigi Rowe is an emerging Miami-based pop artist. Rowe uploaded the full audio and lyric video of "Run The Night" to her YouTube page on August 12, 2016, alongside a free download of the song. On August 17, it was announced on Just Dance's official website that Run The Night would be featured on the 2017 edition of the game. Brent Burns of Music blog Kick Kick Snare included "Run The Night" in his Fried Egg I'm In Love playlist, describing Gigi as "Unarguably a lady bo$$ spelled with two dollar signs".
Before releasing "Run The Night", Rowe uploaded a mashup of Calvin Harris and Rihanna's "This Is What You Came For" and The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down", and an original song, titled Give It Away.
On August 26, Gigi released a new track called "I Love This Crush".
