Ghouse Akbar

Ghouse Akbar is a business figure in Pakistan who holds the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Akbar Group of Companies. He is also the honorary consul of Spain.

Education

Akbar completed his A-Levels from Karachi Grammar School in 1985. He went on to complete his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics (both with double majors) from Brown University, US, in 1990. He also became the President of the South Asia Student Society. He then completed his Master of Business Administration for Executives (EMBA) from INSEAD University in 2005. He wrote his thesis on the feasibility of opening up an executive jet charter company in Pakistan.

  • He started working as an Associate in Chase Manhattan Bank, New York City, where he graduated in the top 1% of the Chase Financial Analyst Class and was selected to join the Associate Level with incoming MBAs. He specialized in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department where his primary focus was to analyze and value private and public organizations. He also worked on aircraft financing and airline related issues.

    Princely Jets was launched in 2005 by Mr. Ghouse Akbar along with his Father Mr M.I. Akbar. Princely Jets was initiated with the purpose of creating such an Organization that can become a pioneer in the Aviation Sector. Ghouse Akbar took the charge of Chief Executive Officer in April 2005.

    Notable achievements

    Mr. Ghouse was awarded with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz on August 14, 2004, from Mr Pervez Musharraf for being the highest tax payer and for his valuable public services. He received the Certificate of Export Excellence for his exceptional export performances in the charter services category for the year 2012-13, presented by the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, on behalf of M/S Princely Jets Pvt Limited. Additionally, Mr. Ghouse serves as the President of the Brown University Pakistan Student Scholarship Fund. This fund aims to create a $500,000 endowment to support academically capable but financially underprivileged Pakistani students, offering up to $25,000 per year in financial aid.

    He is also a member of Brown University Alumni Council, which reports to the President of Brown University.

    He is a member of Brown University International Council, Member of Agha Khan Resource Development Board, Member of Managing Committee–SOS Children’s Village Karachi, Member of Board of Investment and also a Member of Economic Advisory Board – Government of Pakistan.

    Mr Ghouse has also started Pakistan’s only Grain and Fertilizer Terminal in partnership with the Fauji Foundation. Mr. Ghouse also spends most of his time on social work, especially in the sector of education.
