Son of Pastor Francisco Assis Gomes, who was minister of the Gospel for 50 years in Brazil, and Izabel Nunes Gomes. He is married to Maura de Oliveira Gomes, who had a daughter, Keilah and five children, all pastors: Jadhiel, Joel, Geziel, Jeriel and Jesimiel.

He was ordained to the Sacred Ministry on 11 May 1960, in the temple of God's Assembly in Sao Cristovao.

Pastoring churches in the neighborhoods of Pottery, Long River and Governor's Island in the city of Rio de Janeiro, besides the cities of Caxambu, Minas Gerais, Sobradinho, in the Federal District, Recife, Pernambuco and Framingham, USA. Exercised missionary activities in the United States for 15 years, he lived in Indaiatuba, São Paulo, and currently resides in Florida, United States. Exerts itinerant ministry in Brazil and several countries, preaching the Word of God, and holding conferences and seminars.

He graduated in journalism in 1959, and holds a doctorate in theology at The Living Light Bible College and Theological Seminary [citation needed]. He is the author of 41 books, co-author of 3 books, and author of Little Thematic Encyclopedia of the Bible.

It was the minister chosen to celebrate, next to the Brasilia Cardinal Archbishop at the time, Don José Freire Falcão, the ecumenical service concelebrated the Black Hall of the Brazil National Congress, on the Solemn Session that was enacted the current Brazilian Constitution, 5 October 1988.

Was one of the secretaries of the General Convention of the Assemblies of God in Brazil for four terms, was reviewer and then Messenger editor of Peace, official press organ of CGADB, taught classes and was commentator of several magazines Sunday School and is a member of the Lausanne Covenant of the Committee on World Evangelization.
