Gerd-Dietrich Schneider (25 March 1921 – 15 July 2004) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant zur See in the Kriegsmarine during World War II and a Korvettenkapitan der Reserve in the Bundesmarine. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
