George Tambakis

George "The Flying Greek" Tambakis was born in Mykonos, Greece, on 21 July 1989. Tambakis migrated to Brisbane, Australia, in 1999. In Brisbane he was awarded a scholarship to play rugby at St Joseph's College, Gregory Terrace. Enrolling in 2002, he excelled and quickly became an integral member of the First XV rugby team going on to represent Queensland at the Under-16 National Championship in 2005. After leaving school, Tambakis went on to play for Easts Tigers Rugby Union in the Brisbane Club Rugby Competition where he quickly gain the nickname "The Flying Greek" for his 'barnstorming' runs out of the centres.

Tambakis went on to represent Queensland in the under-19 team. Following a run of impressive displays for Easts Tigers, he was selected to represent Greece in rugby league in the lead up to the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, but Greece did not qualify for the World Cup Finals.

Tambakis left behind his stunning sister, Sofia (Ms. Greece Regional Australia 2014), to move to Sydney, Australia, in 2015 where he began studying medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Currently, Tambakis resides in Melbourne, Australia, where he turns out for the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club (MURFC) in 5th grade. He may have lost some outright pace over the years, due to excessive book work, but he has lost none of his tenacity and work rate. Whilst not playing football or cooking books, George is in the final stages of planning a family with his life-partner, Mouldy Mouldsworth.
