George Kreiss


George Kreiss (September 9, 1830 – May 10, 1907) was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate.

Biography

A French emigrant, Kreiss was born on September 9, 1830. He settled in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1852 or 1857. He died of lingering illness following a stroke.

Career

Kreiss was a member of the Assembly during the 1864 session. Later, he represented the 22nd District in the Senate during the 1872 and 1873 sessions. He also established the Appleton fire department and headed it for nine years. In addition, Kreiss was part of the Appleton Common Council. He was a Democrat.
