Geoffrey Austin Newland (born 1982) is an actor who trained classically at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and in the method at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute (New York). He started his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company, then filming Spooks (aka MI-5) for the BBC. He has worked in film, with the RSC, BBC, ITV, Regent's Park OpenAir Theatreand as a Carleton Hobbs BBC radio nominee.

Early years and education

Born in Hawick, Scotland, Geoffrey attended boarding school aged 6 – 18, at University he was one of the first 10 people to study a combined law degree / Barrister's Vocational Course (BVC), qualifying as a Barrister and called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn. He worked for Eversheds before traveling the world for over 2 years and following his dream of acting. He lives in Camden where he is the father of 3, twin daughters and a baby boy.

Career

After completing 3 years at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and an intensive acting course at Lee Strasberg New York Geoffrey worked in Romeo and Juliet with the Royal Shakespeare company. He was then in Spooks for BBC1. He gone on to gain vast and varied experience in film, tv and theatre winning best actor in a short film. Geoffrey is currently the lead Scottish continuity voice for ITV Encore. Select credits can be seen below.
