Taxonomy

Gentilicamelus was named by Loomis (1936). It was assigned to Camelidae by Loomis (1936) and Carroll (1988).

Morphology

Four specimens were examined for estimated body mass by M. Mendoza, C. M. Janis, and P. Palmqvist. These specimens were estimated to weigh:

  • 52.9 kg (120 lb)
  • 77.4 kg (170 lb)
  • 64.7 kg (140 lb)
