The General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) (Czech: Generální inspekce bezpečnostních sborů) is institution within Czech Republic formed in 2011 as solution of argument between Police of the Czech Republic and political parties Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and Věci veřejné (VV). It replaced Inspection of the Police of the Czech Republic. GIBS mission is investigating crimes where perpetrator was officer of the Police of the Czech Republic, Customs protection, prison guards, worker of inspection or employee of these services.

Formation

In 2010, political party Věci veřejné demanded resignation of then police president Oldřich Martinů and former VV's Minister of the Interior Radek John wanted a new police president. Argument ended after then President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus made an agreement between the Police of the Czech Republic, ODS and VV where VV could chose a new police president and ODS chose a director of new agency called GIBS.
