Gayatri Nair ( ; born 5 May 2001) is a British pianist and singer who is gaining popularity across Great Britain from an early age. Born in Madras, India and raised in London, United Kingdom, she was nurtured in various disciplines of music, performance arts and pports.

Early life and education

Nair started her primary education in St. Anthony's Catholic School in East Dulwich, London and performance arts in Brit Kids, part of Brit School, London. Nair was mentored by concert pianist Evelina Puzaite and Classical voice coach Tamara Zivadinovic.

In 2012 Nair won a place in the internationally famous Purcell School for Young Musicians, the oldest music school in United Kingdom where every student is prodigiously talented. Nair is eligible for means tested scholarship up to £33,000 per year for rest of the school years, as long as Nair passes the Year 11 Re-audition scheme. She is also a martial artist who holds a black belt in the Taekwondo.

Career

Nair's first appearance on public stage was for Disney fashion show in April 2010. She made her appearance in Channel 4 with JLS in April 2010. Later the same year she appeared in Nickelodeon TV featuring talented kids from UK. In December 2010, Nair made her debut appearance in Corydon Fairfield's Hall in front of an audience of 1800 people. In the same year she appeared in a concert at St. George's Cathedral London

In 2011 Nair performed in Royal Albert Hall for the first time as part of BBC Proms along with Horrible History Cast and Islington Choir. This was broadcast nationwide by BBC in various channels including BBC1 & CBBC. In December 2011 she appeared again in BBC live Christmas broadcast from St. George's Cathedral.

2012 has seen a major shift in Nair's focus. Many concerts and recitals in 2012 shown her ability in dealing with Classical Music in both Voice & Piano. Her piano recital in Blüthner Piano Centre and St. George's Cathedral got amazing appraisals from many classical musicians. Second year in a row, she appeared again in Royal Albert Hall as part of National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

In 2013, Nair's music appears to be attracted by nearly 1.5 million online viewers on YouTube. Her acoustic cover of David Guetta's Titanium went viral and the story has been covered in many regional newspapers. Later in March 2013, Nair headlined a sell out Charity concert in aid of Alzheimer's Society, UK.

Performances

Concert performances include Nocturne in C Sharp Minor by Frédéric Chopin, Après un rêve by Gabriel Fauré in St George's Cathedral, Southwark; Model in Disney Fashion show along with Selena Gomez as part of Wizards of Waverly Place clothing range launch; Acoustic covers of many popular Soul, R&B and Pop songs in Croydon Fairfields Hall; Singing in Olympic Gala Concert with National Youth Choir of Great Britain in Royal Albert Hall. Nair's music videos are regularly featured in Carnegie Hall Music Exchange.

In 2013 Nair performed in various lunch time Classical music recitals including St. Mary's Church, Watford, St. George's Church, Beckenham, London and various venues in London as part of Lord Mayor's show, Westfield London Christmas 2013 launch & Ice rink inauguration ceremony. In 2013, Nair has been accepted as a regular performer at Westfield, London.

Nair's version of Mary, Did You Know? attracted a huge interest in most popular Christian websites including GodTube & GodVine. GodVine said "Gayatri Nair is a 12-year-old with a gift so heavenly, this will send chills through your body". Nair enjoyed a similar success with her A cappella version of Amazing Grace in Social Media and most popular Christian Websites.

2014 was a major breakthrough for Nair, performing in various prestigious venues including Wembley Arena, Croydon Fairfield Concert hall, St. Martin in the Fields & Westfield London.
