Early life

Gatzby was born Thomas Carroll on March 27, 1996 in Hewitt, New Jersey. He started listening to hip-hop at a young age; admiring artists such as Lil' Wayne, Mac Miller, Chris Webby, and Machine Gun Kelly. He began writing his own raps in 2009 at the age of 12. He attended Pope John XXIII Regional High School, a private high school in Sparta, New Jersey.

The Story

After years of secretly writing lyrics and putting together a list of songs, Gatzby reached out to his lifelong friend, Andrew Missey, who owned a DJ business at the time, entitled "AJDJ Music Service". They began producing songs in Andrew's bedroom with minimal studio equipment. 4 years later, Andrew opened up his own professional studio, appropriately naming it, "AJDJ Studios."

Since they started, Gatzby and Mizzy (Andrew Missey) have played shows in multiple states on the east coast and opened for artists such as Chris Webby, OnCue, Huey Mac, Cam Meekins, Futuristic, and Ryan Bronson.

Gatzby currently goes to school at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.

Projects (2011-2015)

In 2011 Gatzby released a series of singles that were produced out of a makeshift studio. In 2012, local rapper, HaTeR, featured on a song entitled "Cold" which began to gain traction on social media platforms across the internet. In 2014 Gatzby's first mixtape entitled, "Enjoyable" was released on Datpiff. Its initial response was underwhelming, however, due to the lack of a solid fan-base. Over time, the project began to gain momentum through constant promotion by the artist and producers.

On July 31, 2015 the Jersey rapper released a more successful project entitled "1920" which infused Jazz, Rock, and R&B into the Hip-Hop genre. Along with the mixtape came a music video, as well as pre-release listening celebration.

Projects (2017)

In 2017, Gatzby has released 2 new singles to date, including "E. X. P. E. C. T", a precursor to his anticipated album entitled "ANXT", as well as "Extra" a single off of the upcoming album. A formal release date for ANXT has not been announced, however, Gatzby has stated that it will be available for pre-order soon.

Radio Play

Gatzby has received airtime on radios such as Coast2Coast and college radio such as Saint Joseph's University and Rider University. His song "Dreamcatcher" off of the project "1920" has received the most airtime.

Live Performance

Gatzby has performed with artists such as Ryan Bronson, OnCue, Huey Mac, Chris Webby, and Cam Meekins. He performed at a music festival entitled Dreamfest which was held in Athens, PA on August 1, 2015. He opened for Chris Webby at The Stanhope House in Stanhope, New Jersey on November 30, 2015.

Personal life

Growing up in Northern New Jersey, Gatzby went to grade school at St. Catherine of Bologna School; a private school in Ringwood, NJ. This is where Andrew Missey (Mizzy) went to school as well.
