The Recent distribution of Gastrocopta includes North America, eastern Asia, central Asia and South America (Brazil and Venezuela).

The Gastrocopta genus is known mainly from the Neogene in Europe, but its fossil range is from the Oligocene to the Lower Pleistocene in Europe. It is extinct in Europe.
