Gary Hetherington (birth registered April→June 1954) born in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England is an English former rugby league player and coach who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League.

He played for Wakefield Trinity (Heritage № 786), Leeds (Heritage № 1093), Kent Invicta, Huddersfield, Sheffield Eagles, and Whitehaven (twice). He played as a hooker and also as a second-row. Prior to taking over as CEO at Leeds, Gary Hetherington was owner, General Manager, player, and Team coach (between and 1984 and 1996) at the Sheffield Eagles.

He joined Leeds in 1996.

He was President of the Rugby Football League in 2004.

His wife Kath was President of the Rugby Football League in 1995.

Gary also played for Kent Invicta RLFC (now defunct) in the 1983-4 season
