Names

The stadium has been called the Garden City Football Field throughout most of its history. In 2009, it was renamed Metropolitan Field, after a local car dealership in Garden City. The name change was made official when a sign was built over the scoreboard. In 2011 however, the dealership closed and the Metropolitan Field sign was taken down. A new sign took its place displaying the school's name as well as the new football logo for the Cougars, introduced in 2011.

Sponsorship

In 2012, GCHS made deals with several companies to have their own signs displayed on the field's scoreboard. This move helps raise money for the program as they continue to improve the facility.

Tenants

Garden City High School Football Field usually hosts home games for the Garden City High School Cougars football and soccer teams. It also is used as the home for the Cougars GCYAA team, which is for kids ages 7-13. It is also the home of the Cambridge High School Panthers flag football team, and hosts GCHS graduation ceremonies every year. Usually the ceremony draws over 3,000 parents, friends, and other members of the community.

Field

The field has always been grass. In 2012, the field was improved to have a better playing surface and had the football logo added on midfield.
