Gangarampur subdivision

Gangarampur subdivision is a subdivision of the South Dinajpur district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of Gangarampur municipality and four community development blocs: Gangarampur, Bangsihari, Harirampur and Kushmandi. The four blocks contain 30 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Gangarampur.

Area

Apart from the Gangarampur municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 30 gram panchayats under four community development blocs: Gangarampur, Bangsihari, Harirampur and Kushmandi. There is no urban area under these four blocks.

Gangarampur block

Rural area under Gangarampur block consists of 11 gram panchayats, viz. Ashokegram, Belbari–II, Gangarampur, Sukdevpur, Basuria, Chaloon, Jahangirpur, Uday, Belbari–I, Damdama and 4no.Nandanpur. Gangarampur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Gangarampur.

Banshihari block

Rural area under Banshihari block consists of five gram panchayats, viz. Ellahabad, Ganguria, Shibpur, Brajaballavpur and Mahabari. Banshihari police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Buniadpur.

Harirampur block

Rural area under Harirampur block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Bagichapur, Gokarna, Saiyadpur, Bairhatta, Pundari and Shirshi. Harirampur police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Harirampur.

Kushmandi block

Rural area under Kushmandi block consists of eight gram panchayats, viz. Akcha, Deul, Karanji, Maligaon, Beroil, Kalikamora, Kushmandi and Udaypur. Kushmandi police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Kushmandi.

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in the West Bengal, the Kushmandi block and the gram panchayats of Belbari–II, Jahangirpur and Sukdevpur under the Gangarampur block together will constitute the Kushmandi assembly constituency of West Bengal. The gram panchayats of Ashokegram, Basuria, Chaloon an Uday under the Gangarampur block will be part of the Kumarganj assembly constituency. The Gangarampur municipality and the gram panchayats of Gangarampur, Belbari–I, Damdama and Nandanpur under the Gangarampur block will be part of the Gangarampur assembly constituency. The Harirampur block and the Bangsihari block will form the Harirampur assembly constituency. Kushmandi and Gangarampur constituencies will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates. All the four assembly constituencies will be part of the Balurghat (Lok Sabha constituency).
