Academic positions
Esmat is a Professor in the Tropical Medicine Department at Cairo University. he studied and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, endemic diseases of scientists in the liver area of the Republic of Egypt .
He has developed a field of liver transplantation for adults from donors when this specialization wasn’t known in Egypt before 2001 in Dar el foud Hospital . perpering for the process for two years before the event in terms of the training of medical staff and nursing on this work and to give lectures, workshops and exchange of experiences with the Japanese side, which contributed to the start of this specialty in the faculty of Medicine hospital Cairo University ( el kassr- el einy ) and create Unit Liver Transplant in Manial Specialist Hospital and make transplant operations in the university hospital . Up till now, 82 case of transplantion took place in the faculty of Medicine hospital Cairo University ( el kassr- el einy ) . which leads to the introduction of this new specialty in hospitals of the Ministry of Health through the establishment of the unite of liver transplantation Educational Hospital of E l sahal and conduct more than thirty case so far. And the establishment of a research unit at the National Institute of endemic diseases and liver in 2000 to support scientific research in the medical field in Egypt in cooperation with the University of Maryland of America, Unit has provided opportunities for the treatment of more than 800 patients infected with hepatitis B and C . Gamil was the former president of the International Association for the Study of the Liver.
