Biography
Galina Kurlyandskaya was born in Kirovgrad, Soviet Union, in 1961 in a Russian family. She received a University Degree from the Ural State University in 1983. From 1983 she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Metal Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1990 at the Ural State University she defended her PhD thesis: "Thermomechanical treatment above the Curie point and its influence upon magnetic properties of Fe3Si alloy". In 2007 at the Ural State University she defended her Dr.of Sci. thesis (advanced degree in Physics of Magnetic Phenomena): "Giant magnetoimpedance and its connection with magnetic anisotropy and magnetization processes of ferromagnetic structures".
Career
Kurlyandskaya has published more than 110 peer-reviewed research papers, on topics like design, development, processing and characterization of functional materials, nanostructures, biomaterials, magnetic markers, nanocomponent containing devices, and fabrication of miniature sensor prototypes including fluid containing detectors and imprint circuit units, and microscopy. She is also known for her works on impedance spectroscopy and the giant magnetoimpedance effect.
From 2001 to 2004 she was visiting professor and "Ramón y Cajal" research professor at the University of Oviedo (Spain). Since 2004 she has been working as visiting scientist, invited professor and "Ramón y Cajal" research professor at the University of the Basque Country (Spain). Since 1984 she also has been a research fellow of the Department of Physics of Magnetic Phenomenon at the Ural State University.
Kurlyandskaya is a member of editorial board of "Sensor Letters" Journal (American Scientific Publishers, United States), member of IEEE and PhD councils for thesis defence in Russia, Spain and Argentina.
