Galia Lahav

History

The fashion house was founded in 1988 by Galia Lahav, an artist of Russian descent living in Tel Aviv, Israel. Initially, she operated a knitted appliqué and embroidery shop, before transitioning to an evening and bridal wear atelier.

Today, Lahav creates and design next to home designer, for the past eight years, Sharon Sever. Their "affair" began more than 35 years ago, as an art teacher and her pupil.

The brand can be found in various retailers in the US, UK, Asia, Europe, North America, and Australia. Also available are the gowns worn by individuals attending award ceremonies, including Meghan Trainor for the 2015 Grammy Awards, actress Olivia Munn and American top model Ashley Graham.

Collections

Galia Lahav is a fashion house which creates few labels, including couture bridal and couture evening, gala bridal, a premium made-to-order bridal collection and the new made-to-order evening wear, soon to be launched. In 2014, Galia Lahav introduced the Moon Struck Evening collection, whose concept was revolving "the moon's reflection amongst the stars", using "layers of lace and silk, the translucent materials intended to emphasize the female figure", and the tales of the Jazz Age bridal collection, which based its style around a 1920s retrospective look focused on the jazz culture of that era. It has been described as "Galia's signature fitted, low-back gowns which were over-the-top, sexy and lavish". The brand also produced the La Dolce Vita Bridal Collection. In 2015, the Les Reves Bohemians bridal collection was released and was called "daring and adventurous as the heroes of the tales". This collection includes corsetry, intricate lace details, and tulle skirts.

In winter 2015 the fashion house released their Ivory Tower collection and their first GALA No. I collection.

During the NYC Bridal Fashion Week in April 2016, the house of fashion released their Le Secret Royal - Part I couture bridal collection. Its theme refers to mysterious and romantic royalty strolls in secretive castles and gardens. The GALA No. II, made-to-order premium line, was debuted as well, under the quote "Natural is Beautiful". GALA No. II was the second collection of the successful bridal line. In October 2016 the company completed the Le Secret Royal collection with its "Part II" debut in the NYC bridal market, side to the GALA No. III collection. Both collections were highly reviewed in wedding magazines.

Victorian Affair, the SS/17 couture evening collection, was released after its Paris launch during Couture Fashion Week. New couture bridal and the 4th GALA bridal collections, that will be presented in the NYC bridal market in April, are in the make, and include a few surprises, such as a new couture evening collection and a new made-to-order evening wear.

Celebrity placements and red carpet

High-end celebrities and well-known artists from film, music and television have chosen Galia Lahav's sexy, daring, showstopper gowns for appearances, performances and photo shoots. Jennifer Lopez wore body-baring Galia Lahav gowns on the February 2016 cover and inside People en Espanol magazine to promote her Las Vegas residency. Double nominee Meghan Trainor landed on best-dressed lists when she wore a black lace Galia Lahav dress to the 2015 Grammy awards. Orange Is the New Black actress Kimiko Glenn wore a hand-embroidered Galia Lahav dress to accept the show’s Outstanding Performance for an Ensemble in a TV Comedy Series at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Actress-singer Jana Kramer chose Galia Lahav both for her red carpet look at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards and her May 2015 wedding to football player Mike Caussin. Film and TV actress Angela Bassett of the successful TV series American Horror story wore a bold fuchsia evening gown at the BAFTAs (British Academy Film & Television Awards) red carpet. In February 2016, bachelorette Jade Roper, from the second season of ABC's The Bachelor, married Tanner Tolbert, one of the contestants of The Bachelorette's 11th season, and wore a GALA gown by Galia Lahav.

For the 2016 Oscars red carpet and Vanity Fair's party, Galia Lahav dressed American tennis player and businesswoman Serena Williams, and actresses Michelle Rodriguez, Jane Wu and Maggie Grace.

Actress Olivia Munn wore a cocktail dress by Galia Lahav on the red carpet and on stage while accepting an award (the "Jean Claude Gahd Dam") at Spike TV's 'Guys Choice 2016' Awards at Sony Pictures Studios on June 4, 2016 in Studio City, California. The awards show aired on June 9, 2016. Nicole Scherzinger, a well-known Galia fan, chose a GALA gowns for her performance during Andrea Bocelli's concert at the Hollywood Bowl on June 5, 2016. American to -model and social media influencer Ashley Graham wore a custom made GALA by Galia Lahav sheer jumpsuit, for Glamour's Woman of The Year awards, where she was awarded for her social activities towards empowering women and young girls to love their bodies.
