History

The Gaisanos family retail business started as a pushcart selling various goods. In the 1970s, a shop-restaurant was established by Doña Modesta Singson Gaisano which was located at the ground floor in a rented house in Colon, Cebu. The establishment was later converted into the White Gold Super Store, which is considered as the predecessor of the Gaisano malls. After the Gaisano matriarch's death, Modesta's sons, David, Stephen, Henry, Victor, and John, split the corporation running the store into five together with two other stores ran by the brothers' relatives. White Gold still exists nowadays and is now named as White Gold Club.

They maintain their business under the Vicsal Development Corporation, a holdings company.
